This modernist two-level residence negotiates a sloping coastal site through a carefully articulated series of platforms and terraces, rising strategically to capture expansive Indian Ocean views. The architectural composition employs crisp geometric forms and layered horizontal planes that respond to the topography whilst maximising visual connections to the coastline. Living spaces are oriented to frame ocean vistas, with generous glazing and cantilevered upper-level volumes creating a strong dialogue between built form and natural landscape. The design balances openness with privacy, utilising strategic screening and level changes to mediate between public street frontage and intimate family living spaces.

A restrained material palette anchors the design in textural, enduring finishes. Off-form concrete walls provide structural expression and thermal mass, their raw surface quality contrasted by warm timber panelling and natural stone floors that flow seamlessly between interior and exterior zones. Central to the spatial planning is a sheltered courtyard that acts as the home’s organisational heart, linking living areas vertically and horizontally whilst creating a protected microclimate for the pool and alfresco spaces. This courtyard strategy mitigates harsh coastal elements prevailing sea breezes and salt exposure enabling year-round outdoor living. Frameless glass balustrades and feature lighting enhance the contemporary aesthetic whilst preserving sightlines, culminating in a residence that embodies refined coastal modernism tailored to Western Australian conditions.
