The proposal is fora 15-storey hotel incorporating a public rooftop restaurant and bar. The hotel will provide 226 rooms in a variety of formats to suit different short stay accommodation options and include 127 car bays.
The city is within the council’s Residential and Stables zone, and the materials palette includes colours and materials that are consistent with the prevailing materials and colours seen within that zone. These include natural colour tones and materials (i.e., brick, sandblasted concrete)and The Stables are referenced through the subtle abstraction of materiality and datums. Floor coverings at the ground plane, including the forecourt and driveway, comprise stabilised ballast, referencing the finer grain nature and acoustic play on the stables (noise akin to horse movements), while the podium and services compound reference the opening and feed height datum of stables.
Entry canopies have been refined with a form that echoes the simplicity of the building itself, by providing a mixture of hard and soft shading elements. Vertical structural elements are embedded within planters (where possible), with the open framed components used as a structure to support natural vegetation. This integrates the built form with the landscape.
