Located on the corner of Murray Street and Shafto Lane in the heart of the Perth CBD, the Murray Street Development is a twin tower project incorporating a 25-level, 480-room hotel and a 30-level, 388-apartment residential building.
Each tower includes a range of guest and resident amenities including a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, sauna, spa, sun deck and barbeque facilities, with hospitality and commercial tenancies at ground level.
The hotel tower is presented as a flush, glazed, elegant rectangular form in contrast to the more textured NV Apartment tower. The base of the NV Apartment tower is wrapped in a vibrant suspended mesh façade, adding visual interest and a welcoming identity. This dynamic three-dimensional envelope complements the subtle detailing of the active streetscape below.
Both the residential and hotel buildings share a lower podium that continues the streetscape, with the upper floors set back to give the impression that the towers float above. The stepping back of both towers results in a slender vertical form that highlights the architectural massing.
These solid surfaces allow for prominent up-lighting of the buildings, creating a dramatic addition to the Perth skyline. The tiered massing of both towers also forms a variety of green terraces that capture views across the surrounding cityscape, the Swan River and beyond.
